[I'm writing this question in the present tense, but I also mean to ask about devices you used to have that are no longer with you for whatever reason. ]
What is the one device (that you use primarily for music) that you just couldn't bear to be without, the one that gives you butterflies when you think about it, the one which you would rush into a burning building to save? Mine is the Cowon J3 for so many reasons. I love the sound enhancements, I love the customizable EQ, the customizable UI (mine is Kizune's Lynx/Leaf/Sense), the dedicated play/pause, volume, and fw/reverse buttons, the microSD expandability, the massive battery life, the brilliant screen, the drag/drop ability. Sigh. Total J3 fanboy right here. ![]() It will be a sad day indeed when my J3 dies. I want to buy a backup now that they're discontinued and becoming downright rare, but I am holding out hope that by that time there will be a proper successor to the J3, but at each of Cowon's new moves the WTF-ness of skepticism grows within me. Second place: Clip+, for reasons that you all know so well, but hopefully someone will reply to this and outline its virtues. |

For me it would have to be my Zen Micro, it was my first "good" Mp3 player! Awesome navigation, decent battery life, good brand/build quality, confused the hell out of my apple friends (couldn't navigate it lol, it wasn't a "wheel"), good sound, and an amazing 6GB capacity!!!!
Too bad it's dead though, it was a really fun player, it even glowed when it charged!

I don't really have a clear favourite. In order of acquisition: Samsung YP-Z5, original Clip, Fuze, Clip+, and Clip Zip. The Fuze doesn't get used much, and I don't like the Zip as much as the Clip+. But most of the year, the original Clip in the car probably gets used the most. And these days a Z5 attached to a clock radio gets used second most.
Just realized that I haven't used earphones for at least 6 weeks, and probably longer. Steve

My favorite was my iPod touch 4G that my little son is using,...it allows me to use apps that give me Rockbox like sound quality. Second place, iPod classic,...for the sheer volume & simplicity of it. Third is a tie between my Sony S639 and my Cowon D2+,... I have a few others, but I'm not going to grade them all.

My Samsung tab2 7.0 and clip+ are the devices I use on daily basis . The tab2 has poweramp and clip+ is Rockboxed. I use the clip+ in the van and the tab for couch surfing or games while listening to tunes. =8-)

That's iffy, because Sony never really gave me a player I can say I truly luv. I somewhat luv the S639, now give it to me in either 32gb or 64gb and I'll be a true Sony fanboi. They only do that in Asian countries,... And I HATE ANDROID!!!

I'm with TDS....my first favorite would be my iTouch 4G. The second would be my Sansa Fuze (Rockbox, of course) because, well, it's all I've had.
Sadly I don't have much experience with Android....but from briefly trying it out on tablets...I like it better than iOS. More customization. I'll probably get some sort of Android device for my next gadget....

For me, my current player (Sony Walkman NWZ-E465) is my favorite of the players that I have. It took was what great about the previous Walkman players and added some needed features including on-the-go playlists and podcast features.

Ah the old Ipod 4G. I've replaced 3 screens on those. But yet I've dropped my samsung phone 16 feet onto concrete.. twice, stepped on it on concrete, and over heated the battery until it shut down. Everything still works great on it.
Oh, did I mention it runs Android?

Variety is the spice of life, keep an open mind and hopefully another J3, Clip+/zip or other great player will come along ...

I agree with TDS, Sony needs to make and sell larger capacity Walkman devices outside of Japan. If they had a 128 GB S or E-series in English, I'd buy it. Even if it was $600, I'd seriously consider it.
