It also depends on what you are playing. For example, the JVC HA-FX40 IEM sounds great with treble deficient material since it gives extra treble, but on treble rich material it is too much. Using the equilizer to compensate doesn't really do it.
Are you looking for a compact portable headphone or something large? The JVC HA-RX700 is rather large. Are you looking for a closed or open headphone? A closed headphone will block much of the sound around you, which could be good or bad depending on the circumstances.
