How is the upper midrange and treble on those Ultrasones? The PRO900 I had was so piercing that I swear it caused migraine

With the velour pads that are on these, I don't find it piercing at all. If memory can be trusted, I'd say my former SR60i's had more prominent upper mids and treble.

I've heard that the PRO900 was a very polarizing headphone....a love it or hate it affair. Sounds like I know which side of that debate you are on...lol.

IIRC I enjoyed the listen but it's been so long and memory could be off, nice addition to your gear

I have the hd25-1II's,...I'm wondering if those are the update. Then I gots the Incase Sonics,...and I traded my hfi-780's just recently. I must say all are great stuffage!!!

They are an upgrade but IMO not worth the extra 150$. The aluminum housing does reduce resonance and driver ringing, as well as distortion, but the difference is pretty subtle. Basically, these things become apparent after long hours of listening, where the Amperior is still not fatiguing at all, while the HD25-1 II can be a bit harsh for some people. If Senn were selling them for $250 instead of $350, I'd say they'd be the ultimate closed portable for that price. At $350, they are still the ultimate (can't think of anything better) but overpriced.

Why is everyone going back to the HFi-780's? Not that they're bad headphones or anything, just curious. Its been a while since I've seen them pop up around here.

Got myself a Sony U71P UMPC. Working very well and the battery it's using is still very good. Going to clean it up a bit before I can say something.

how much you get that for?

Also might be worth giving windows 8 a try if it has the processor and ram but now that I think it has what 256mb ram? is it even upgradable?
