What do you think of Apple's new iPad announcement?

I almost did buy an iPad 3 as I liked the screen resolution, but I didn't like the price, (even the cheapest version) and the idea of being locked into Apple. I'm glad I waited a while for a decent Android tablet (Nexus 7) and the new iPad Mini doesn't offer value, as far as I am concerned.

But what a blow to iPad 3 buyers - their tablet isn't obsolete, but is now discontinued and EOL before even the iPad2.

The ipad mini looks way overpriced.

This looks much more interesting. I'm not in a rush to buy though. Perhaps within 2 years these might be down to $99 and I might be tempted to buy one.

Not impressed by the iPad Mini. iPads in general are way overpriced. Especially when I could buy a fully functional computer for less than the cheapest iPad.

I won't be getting one anytime soon.

Same here--the iPad Mini is vastly overpriced, in the face of nice tablets from others (including the nice Samsung Galaxy 2 linked to above--at $200!). And despite being new, back an Apple generation or 2 in terms of technology.

But, there now is a nice opportunity for full-sized, earlier-version (i.e., iPad 3 and down) iPads, being sold by Apple as refurbished units (with full Apple warranties), at Apple's website at a discount--e.g. the iPad 3 (formerly known as "The New iPad") at $100 off full retail, the standard selling price.

Heh,... What ^he^ said!!! But, I won't lie, I'd have bought the iPad mini if I'd have had the chance. Now I'm using an iPad 2, and I see no reason to change that. My wife even thought about it, being easier to carry & all. Not worth it,...

When this iPad 2 dies, maybe then. Now, not a chance.

Looks like, because of a nice deal from IDvsEGO, I'm using an iPad mini. Personally I luv it, as it's got all the functionality I need and the ability to carry it with ease. Plus, it seems the battery life is somewhat better than on the iPad 2 my wife has. I'm very happy with this thing,...

I'm personally more interested in the iPad mini then the newnew iPad. Getting one for my mom, as she liked using it in the store.

For me getting an iPad is just to be able to use the iPad specific apps. Some games too, but not the "Ermagurd thats Xbox 360 level graphics!" games.

If you wanna talk about crazy prices, what about the iPad 2? How is that more expensive then the iPad mini? o_O

Yeah, the iPad mini is the iPad almost all of us wanted (for those that wanted an iPad ). It's fast enough, the screen is good enough, and the pricing is where it (almost) should be. Plus, I can pop it in my cargo pants if need be,...WIN-WIN IMO.

Funny but, I don't really like it. Overpriced (especially compared to other 7" tablets), with tech. from the iPad 2 generations ago, and not a good size for surfing and reading the Internet. Great for carrying around, though.

@Mikerman: The size is perfect for carrying, the internet browsing on the screen is the perfect size, and it's comparable in function to what's currently available from other OS's, and the screen is comparable to other reading devices. Stop nitpicking. If it was Android (Rockbox,...) you'd luv the damn thing,...
