![]() Samsung Electronics Co. has announced that its recently released Samsung Galaxy S III handset, which runs Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich,” has sold more than ten million units worldwide, living up to the South Korean manufacturer’s sales estimate from late June. Shin Jong-kyun, the president of Samsung’s information technology and mobile communications division, called the Galaxy S III a “10-million seller.” The Samsung Galaxy S III was launched in London on May 29, less than two months ago, with as many as nine million units sold via pre-order. The Galaxy S II, by comparison, took more than five months to reach the double-digit million unit mark. Some estimate that Samsung’s latest handset could surpass 40 million units sold by the end of the year. Are you one of the ten-million-strong Galaxy S III-toting smartphone users or do you prefer a different device? [Yonhap News Agency via The Verge]

I played with one and I have to say it's not much of an upgrade from the S2.
It's not faster (probably slower by some tests I did). The screen is only marginally better (It didn't look significantly better than the s2 but slightly better). I hate the dedicated home button. It seems it will wear out the more I press it. With that said, it is a better phone than the s2 (but very slightly IMO). So if you have the s2 don't upgrade (unless it's free). And if you don't have either one then yes get the s3. |

I'd rather have a Galaxy Note.

Same. I'm afraid having the SGP 5.0 is ultimately bad for me because I won't be able to go down in screen size ever...

Have to say I'm surprised they've managed so well with the device. However its quite obvious that Samsung is spending a lot of money and effort on advertising. They've gathered a sizable and devote follower base that sort of baffles me, reminds me of Apples follower base prior to the iPhone.
For me it was a cold calculating decision to go for the GS3, ticked the most boxes on what I was looking for. Its really more the fact that other manufacturers failed in such simple ways then Samsung having a huge success at making the "best" device. |

I honestly like the Note, though I still think it's just a little too big for me. (I'm debating whether to get a galaxy nexus now, or wait for the next iteration).

the Galaxy Note II has been previewed at on going IFA. It has some really neat specs. Note II will target a different customer base than S3. I considered both before buying, finally got the S3 chiefly due to size. It is very very pocketable unlike Note. Note II has minor increase in dimension and weight and needless to say increase in screen size too.

I got the Note II a few days ago, if anyone is reading this thread, I'd recommend trying the size before buying. You'd be surprised how manageable it is, it actually fits in my jeans pocket! Samsung did an amazing job, hands down one of the top three phones out in the market right now. I don't think I'll ever be able to go down in screen size anymore.

I'm rocking the original note since I got a kick ass deal on it . There is no way I will get something smaller. The width is tricky for some people but I really like being able to type with both thumbs in portrait mode. Having a few extra pixels doesnt hurt either. If the size bothers you hit the gym and do some squats. The thing practically disappears in a front pocket unless you have girly thighs and skinny jeans.

I'm on the fence between the Note II & the upcoming Lumia 920. I can't wait for the end of the month.
