![]() Barnes & Noble and Microsoft have announced that their joint venture – formerly known as “NewCo” – has received regulatory approval. Going forward, it will be known as NOOK Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble. Microsoft invested $300 million into the joint venture at the end of April, and as such controls 17.6% of NOOK Media LLC. While it was widely assumed that this year’s NOOK devices would be running Windows 8, but that turned out to not be the case. A NOOK app, however, will be arriving on the Windows Store imminently. So what does this mean for the future of NOOK? Not a whole lot, at the moment. But the two companies are certainly working on something. Would you like to see a NOOK tablet based on Windows 8, or do you prefer the customized version of Android that they currently run? [Barnes & Noble via All About Microsoft]
