Default RIM to license Microsoft technology for its BlackBerry devices

I'll forgive you for reading this headline and instantly jumping to the wrong conclusion. No, Research In Motion (RIM) is not planning to manufacture a BlackBerry based on Microsoft's Windows Phone OS, as has so often been rumored. RIM has simply signed a patent licensing agreement with Microsoft to, allowing the Waterloo-based company to use Microsoft’s Extended File Allocation Table (exFAT) in BlackBerry devices.

So what is exFAT, exactly? The Extended File Allocation Table is based on the FAT file system. It’s much faster at accessing files than its predecessor and it supports flash memory file sizes up to five times larger than FAT’s limit. The standard was designed for large audiovisual files and seamless portability, making it a great choice for mobile devices. While RIM hasn’t announced specifics, the company plans to use exFAT in many of its new smartphones and tablets.
Do you think RIM will include exFAT technology in BlackBerry 10, which is scheduled for release during the first part of next year, or will the company hold off until the next release?

I don't think RIM will be around much longer.

Also, I don't quite understand your threads - this is spam, surely?

Master Devwi is a contributing editor, NOT a spammer. I'd recommend you choose your targets/enemies more carefully. Not cool at all bro,...
