Suggestions sought for car Clip Zip use

If you had some kicking around (like I did), then free is pretty good.

The ones you pictured bother me because they look small and the speakers are really close together. But I have never heard them, so can't comment.

I think the speaker set-up I linked to is supposed to be for portability, which is not really a goal of mine. I would want to listen to the Clip Zip at home in front of the computer, not unlike a table-top CD player.

Do you have something like a stereo with rca or aux input? You could get something like http://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-Go-...audio+to+3.5mm you might be surprised what you already have lying around the house.

mamamia, I have a stereo system, but for this purpose I was just thinking of something small and soft in the computer room. But thanks for the suggestion!

If you're lucky enough to have a car radio with a USB port, just use a memory stick. They are very inexpensive and the radio will recognize ID album and track titles.
My car didn't come with USB input, so I use an FM transmitter plugged into accessory port (what used to be called cigarette lighter). It works fine, but not as convenient for changing album/track.

why would he do that when he could just use a usb cable and use the player in msc mode with a usb cable? or would that not work?

It would work but it will only read the internal memory and not the sd card if he is using one

Re Amazon Prime: Great idea, but I already used my one-month trial for Christmas last year! I don't think they give you two trials.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It works in one of my car stereos, so I assume it will work in the other. 10,000 songs split between a standard sized SD, and a micro in one of those, 5000 on 64GB each. There's still unused space on each, but I can live with that.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I'd like to clarify something: I take it from some posts that I can still use my Clip+ to listen to music, even if it's charging, as long as the USB cord isn't plugged into a PC. Is this correct? In other words, if I just use a charging USB cable, I can still operate the player while its charging?

With larger cables I've seen ways to either use tape to block the data pins or remove them so there's no data connection. I haven't seen any post like that for the smaller micro usb the Clip Zip uses.

Yes. Charging via an AC (or DC)/USB adapter will allow you to listen while charging. As will using a power only (no data) USB cable connected to a PC, as well as covering or removing a "full" USB cable's data pin, as noted above.

Of course, even when connected to a PC via a charging and data cable, you still can listen while charging: just use the PC to play the Clip's contents.

No, on my tests if the usb connection provides charge current, you cannot play.
If you have a usb input available, I still maintain it's easier to use a usb stick, no charging problems. If you are fortunate enough to have a car radio with built in usb, it's much easier to make adjustments for track/album etc. This holds true to a lesser extent if using one of those fm transmitters which in my case works well.

No its actually data that means you can't play. Current is fine.
