Default Google announces three new Motorola DROID RAZR handsets

Nokia and Microsoft weren’t the only ones to hold an event this morning. Google and Motorola took the stage not too far from the joint Microsoft/Nokia event in New York City to unveil three new Android handsets: the DROID RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, and RAZR M.

The DROID RAZR HD features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 16GB of memory, and a 2,530mAh battery, which is capable of 20 hours of movies and TV shows and six hours of web surfing or voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation. It also features a clear, crisp display, which the company compared to an HDTV due to its 85% greater color saturation and 50% more pixels per inch that most smartphones.

Next up is the DROID RAZR MAXX HD, the successor to the popular smartphone with a seemingly never-ending supply of power. The RAZR MAXX HD has a 3,300mAh battery capable of powering the device for 32 hours on average (13 hours of video, eight hours of web browsing, or ten hours of HD YouTube videos). It too comes with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, as well as 32GB of memory. All of this is packed into a device just 1mm thicker than the RAZR HD.

Then there’s the DROID RAZR M, which is notable thanks to its 4.3-inch qHD edge-to-edge display. Other specs include 8GB of internal memory, a set of tutorials for walking you through how to setup and customize your device, and customizable SMARTACTIONS battery saving rules. You’ll also be able to choose between black and white models.

All three devices share similar specs, such as a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 8MP camera, NFC, and 1GB of RAM. Corning Gorilla Glass, DuPont KEVLAR fiber, and splash-guard coating also come standard. They will ship with a customized version of Android 4.0.4 “Ice Cream Sandwich” installed, but upgrades to Jelly Bean will be supported. These handsets will also be the first Android devices to come with Chrome for Android.

The fall DROID RAZR lineup will be released in the US on Verizon this fall (as well as in other countries), but only the DROID RAZR M has received firm pricing and availability. You’ll be able to pick up the device on September 13 for $99.99 with two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.

What do you think of these announcements?
