Ah yes, this. I believe I've seen this previously on Head-Fi. I don't think I really have any respect left for Sennheiser even though I love the HD 580/600/650 series. First they abandon their neutral sound signature to create a new flagship that's bright like everything else, then they ramp up the prices of the HD 600's and HD 650's, and now. . . this. It's hard to blame them because they'll make boatloads of money selling idiots overpriced products, but nevertheless I will be looking elsewhere for brands more focused on value in the future.
