I've been a proud owner of a Cowon J3 for a few years now, but it seems as though it's beginning to die on me
Since I got it I would like to think I've handled it pretty well, but unfortunately there's an end to everything. I've been spoiled buy the sound quality, so I need a player that can rival Cowon. Also, I have music stored on a microSD card, so a player with a microSD card slot would be much appreciated It's not necessary though, if it comes down to it I can just transfer the music from there. I need at least 16 GB or an 8 GB player with a card slot. As for my budget, it is pretty flexible, but I wouldn't like to spend a ridiculous amount of money on it. Any help is greatly appreciated ![]()

Your player would appear to be 2 years old (the J3 was released in 2010 according to Wiki).
The Sansa Clip+ or Clip Zip with Rockbox installed should meet your requirements. You can get an 8GB player and they both have card slots. One issue that you didn't mention is battery life between charges, I believe that the J3 has a better battery life than the Clips. Steve

Or, just get another Cowon.

Your belief is correct, IIRC the J3 has around 50+ hour batter life VS the Clip with rockbox gets around 13 to 15 hours. Without rockbox around 12 hours IIRC.

Or get a Clip+ and a usb battery pack like the Veho Pebble XT. A 4GB Clip+ and a Veho Pebble XT is only around $65. The Pebble XT will probably give more than 10 full charges of the Clip battery.

I actually think I might go with the Cowon Z2, or possibly the D3 depending on whether the new FW updates fixed most of the issues with it.

I believe I might also get the clip for use while working out or playing sports.
