I can't wait to read a user review of these. Who will be the first to compare them with Shures and Etys?

Hang on a minute tho'

If they gave a perfect flat reproduction with deep bass, soaring highs and a soundstage that was as wide as it was high as it was deep, would it need all these tweeky gimiks?

Secondly, if they are ported, how good will they be at attenuating outside noise?

The resonant peak (the ear’s natural ability to amplify a certain frequency over all others) of one person’s ear canal may peak at 2k and another person at 3.5k. When you remove this natural peak by inserting something into the ear canal the sound changes differently depending on the person. The bottom line is that one device will not work perfectly for everyone.
Interesting, doesn't sound like the usual marketing BS - there might be some truth in that.

Brilliant answer!!!!

Why didn't I think of that.

With a Hi Fi speaker, the biggest effect on how it will perform is not the amps or the source, but the room in which it is placed and its positioning therein.

What they are saying is that there is a 'room effect' in that not all ear canals are created the same, and I believe them.

DFKT, you have seen the logic in what I have missed.

Would be specially useful for me, since I measured both my ears, and both are very different in frequency response. I also notice it at inserting the Vibes deep into my ear canals - one canal is bent, while the other one is straight. These Sleek phones might be what I'm looking for. Should react better than a mere pan/balance-setting. (In truth, I'd need a dual-mono parametric EQ on all my audio players...)

EnzoTen is reporting live from CES in our IRC channel, and he's going to check out the Sleek booth, if possible...

(He already checked out Shure, and likes the E500 successor... well, duh! )

Default Sleek Audio

Glad to see you found our site. We are as excited about the SA6 as anyone else. We looked outside the box and used our prior knowledge of fitting, dispensing and manufacturing hearing aids to acoustically balance the sound. I look foreword to sending a pair to Any Thing but iPod soon for review.

To answer the question about the rear bass port attenuating noise. The driver is sealed and insulated in the interior to help attenuate noise. Our system truly is unique and different than any other IEM. We do not have to rely solely on the tip for sound isolation; allowing us to think of comfort in that area .

Hello SAJay, welcome to the forums.

I like the idea of letting the end user tune the phones to their liking very much. Since the manufacturer cannot know about the listening preferences and the sources used for the phones, this is an exciting innovation, in my opinion.

I'm very curious about how the SA6 might sound like.

After owning the Shure E2 and E3C's I would definitely pick up the Shure SE310 should my current phones go to shot.

Those SA6s look really nice. After they're released and I see some good reviews I'll probably pick a pair up
