![]() Samsung Electronics Co. has announced that its recently released Samsung Galaxy S III handset, which runs Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich,” has sold more than ten million units worldwide, living up to the South Korean manufacturer’s sales estimate from late June. Shin Jong-kyun, the president of Samsung’s information technology and mobile communications division, called the Galaxy S III a “10-million seller.” The Samsung Galaxy S III was launched in London on May 29, less than two months ago, with as many as nine million units sold via pre-order. The Galaxy S II, by comparison, took more than five months to reach the double-digit million unit mark. Some estimate that Samsung’s latest handset could surpass 40 million units sold by the end of the year. Are you one of the ten-million-strong Galaxy S III-toting smartphone users or do you prefer a different device? [Yonhap News Agency via The Verge]
