Default Aurora Colorado :/

Another needless crime ... RIP to the unlucky who passed in Aurora Colorado, and a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

* Please don’t start debates about guns, gun laws, what parents shouldn’t do or any debatable topics. Start another thread for that, this thread is just to pay homage/respect to the innocent victims …

I saw the news about it the other day,...so sad. R.I.P. to all those innocent people. I also wish the injured a speedy recovery, as much of a recovery as it can be.

Who brings a six year old to a midnight showing of a violent movie? She never should have been there.

It's actually a common thing here in NYC, as it's the summer and quite a few people bring the kids to late night flicks. Me, no. But, I won't lie, I've done it in he past. Nothing wrong with it. Besides, this psycho could have done this in the middle of the day - it would have been even worse IMO.

(Just as an aside: I've also often wondered about young children being taken out so late at night. But then a friend told me about the price of many babysitters . . . .)

My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

I going to guess that the shooter was in the military or his parents were in the Air Force.

I am noticing a tread with shootings of this nature.

I don't know about that. But he clearly, from all reports I've seen, is mentally ill, one way or the other--his brain seems to have taken a wrong turn in his later years.

More importantly than him, sympathies to all those involved at the theater. I saw at least one report of a victim refusing to be victimized, and returning to a local theater to see the movie. Kudos to you!

Actually, he had nothing to do with the military. He was a Ph.D. student. Something in psychology IIRC. Also something that may be of interest, his mother was not surprised at what he had done.

I personally think people get too protective of children when it comes to media. I think the people that would be pushed towards violence from seeing it on screen were the people who are already insane enough to do something like this.

I read his phd field was neuroscience not psych. Either way grad students aren't supposed to be the mass killer type.

Yes, you're right, I didn't remember correctly. Einstein did say genius was close to insanity...

Not sure how many posts I will have to delete or if the posters can understand that this thread wasn't created to debate gun control or what parents should and shouldn't do. Again, it was created only to pay homage and respect to the dead. Please stop posting that crap here and if you want to debate that stuff start your own thread ...
