Lol I downloaded iTunes once to try to help my brother out. I got so sick of all the crap it installed with it! Bonjour, QuickTime, even Safari! Not to mention three separate things that said something along the lines of "Apple Installer.exe"

iTunes shall never again touch this computer. If I ever want to change crap around on my Touch, it'll be on my old as dirt computer.

I only use iTunes now to sync my iPod. That's it. MusicBee or foobar2000 for everything else.

@steinburger, I got quite annoyed w/iTunes bloatware as well, and uninstalled all the crap and then followed this easy tutorial to install without bloatware . There's also this to tweak iTunes.

Ah, thanks a lot, McD! Hopefully that'll make my old computer run it faster. It was a b**** considering I only have ~.5GB RAM, I think... Still don't think I want it desecrating this gorgeous Win7...

I have iTunes on my laptop but only for the sake of restoring my iPod if anything happens to it and also syncing music to my younger sisters iPhone since she doesn't know how to download music. I have Musicbee and Media Monkey but I hate both of them,I just can't get along with learning any kind of syncing software since I'm too lazy to learn it lol I stick with Jetaudio for simply playing music,MP3Tag for doing tags and just windows explorer for copying music to my iPod. I have dbpoweramp installed on my laptop too so I can see all of the tag stuff without using software,I use dbpoweramp to convert all my files, its perfect for my needs. Jetaudio does have a Last.FM plugin that I use so the playcount thing is fine with it.

The Zune software is in fact better than iTunes in a way.....it doesn't install any extra crap. Performance-wise both of the players run just fine on my system.

And lol yeah I would use iTunes on another computer if I had one . One of the oldies has broken down and the other is constantly being used by other family members......my laptop is the best though so that's good for me.

But really, installing iTunes w/o bloatware helps a lot .......

That's all I've ever used it for.......loading the Touch, or occasionally playing back one of the podcasts I get with it.

Mediamonkey plays videos now, so I no longer have any need to open WMP12.

Its for the same reason that I no longer need to use Content Transfer or MediaGo with my player (a Sony NWZ-E465) except to put pictures on it. Another nice addition to MediaMonkey 4 is the ability to automatically send podcasts to the appropriate folder on my player so I can take advantage of its podcast features.

I use iTunes to buy from their iTunes store since I like their selection of songs but I don't use it for anything else. I tried Musicbee and truthfully the SQ of all their presets sucked and the SQ sucked on flat and I hate the equalizer. I'm STILL sticking with Jetaudio because its the ONLY software that plays my songs the way I expect them to sound,I'm trying to find some sort of music playback software that can surpass Jetaudio but seems one doesn't exist.

For what its worth, there's a fairly simple work-around for this. Just "save" the iTunes installer, rather than "running" it. Its a standard ZIP file regardless of what the file extension is. (I believe its an .exe file.) UnZip the file and you'll see all the individual installers for Bonjour, iTunes, QuickTime, etc. Just right-click and select "install" on iTunes.msi and delete the others. (You'll also need to install QT if it isn't already on your computer.)

My vote goes for foobar2000, it has it all. Personally i don't like full-screen media managers, they are too big and they will mostly take up the whole space of desktop, i like minimal approach that foobar is offering, full customization is also crucial. Having minimal and compact-sized foobar i'm still able to manage everything and i'm quite satisfied. Foobar has awesome converting, renaming, tagging and copying options that i didn't find in any other player, so it's full win for me. One may complain about lack of video support, but for me it not an issue, one because i rather go on You Tube and look up the music video i want, and second i'm using Sansa Clip.

I use foobar2000 as my main music player as well. I use it to organize my music, rip CDs to FLAC, and fix integrity errors in MP3 files.

iTunes is installed as well, for the iPod Touch. It's pretty good software actually, even though I don't use it much.

And that's the beauty of foobar2000, you can basically do everything regarding management of your music, and it's free, there is software where you have to pay so you can rip your CD's > lol. And yes i forgot to mention about that great utilities for fixing errors and tons of supported formats, even really obscure formats i.e music formats from many games.
