hopefully we hear something new, looking to get a new player to replace my 1GB first gen clip. I don't want to make a purchase with an expected announcement coming pretty soon. i based on previous announcements we should hear something by the end of the month or first week of next month at the latest if they keep going at the same pace they have in the past.

A player along the lines of the Clip won't be coming out any time soon. The Clip Zip was just released. I would think possibly an update to the Fuze line, if anything.

Though I did like my black Sansa ClipZ, I sold it just because I felt it was too small for me ... now looking for a new version of the Fuze. Hope there comes a new Fuze Clip or FliP, to name it in a better way.

It could even be like a flip phone and that would make it just a little more in size than the clip, plus it could also have a clip on its back. Would just become more thicker in size.

I hope it would also have a small speaker like the E300 from iRiver has. And of course the tactile buttons of the clip.

I doubt it. The people that don't use Rockbox have been clamoring for time elapsed/remaining on the playback screen pretty much for the whole year since the Clip Zip was introduced, and it has fallen upon deaf ears. Not to mention the endless and unceasing batch of complaints about the Fuze+ ever since that was introduced.

While I'm not holding my breath for anything great down the pike from them, I'm certainly happy with all the SanDisk products I have running rockbox. What made you so pessimistic aren't you as happy as me with the e200 series and all the clips running RB

I'm perfectly happy with mine running Rockbox...but every time they try something new, it takes Rockbox to bring it through to fruition (except the Fuze+).

Remember when they claimed gapless playback, that wasn't quite so? How about the fabled pitch bug? And we can't forget the Fuze+....asides from the dreadful touch controls, I read a lot of complaints from people loading them near capacity.

Rockbox users are the (happy) minority, as far as Sansa players go, however.

I couldn't be bothered to scan through those three longish threads, but I noticed that you had posted THIS MONTH. Hopefully you had posted 6-12 months ago as well, because it's not very realistic to expect any company to produce new features in a month.

This isn't something JK98 just started recently. The "Describe your ideal mp3 player" on that page was started by JK98 04-23-2010.

The Clip Zip came out a year ago. There is no rule stating that they can only release one player a year, although since 2009 that seems to be their pattern. Their niche players(Slotmusic Player, Slotradio Player, Slotradio To Go Player) all seem to have been ill conceived, too stripped down, and lacking in sound quality and functionality.
