As has been said now, if you download the 480 x 800 version it will be in portrait. I'm sure I saw something about sorting in the settings but to be honest, after going through them all and changing anything that didn't sound right for me, I finally had a play with the actual business end, as it were, and I'm with you... Rockbox is not for me.

It just looked and felt wrong and didn't seem to belong on Android - it didn't help that it didn't ignore .nomedia when building the database. No browsing with thumbnails and when playing, some of the album art just didn't show.

I could see there was a lot control in the settings and for a stand alone player it might be what people want but as part of my SGP experience it under designed.

The problem I'm finding, even with paid music apps is that nothing does everything I want. Some come close and most features are available in one or another but they are never all together. One thing I haven't found at all yet is the ability to have two separate libraries (I want to keep my music and radio shows separate)

For free players, I'm inclined to go with WinAmp

I bought WinAmp Pro a while back and couldn't ever get it to cooperate with my SGP.....but I installed it on my phone today. I'll give it a test run this week and see how I like it.

I tried many audio apps for android and found that many of them just did not "sound" quite right. I tried Rockbox and tweaked a few settings under advanced EQ and my jaw dropped! Very clear high's and punchy bass without the muddiness from many of the apps out on the market. Even though it's still in it's infancy on android and the UI is a bit lacking, I was very impressed with the audio quality and it plays gapless recordings very good! I will use this as my primary music app as most of the other apps have way too much eye candy for me anyways. Most of the time when it comes to just listening to music, it will be in my pocket most of the time so the extra features on other apps won't be missed.

+1, same ones on mine. Pretty much N7 all the time now, may need to buy it soon.

jetAudio is pretty close to PowerAMP as far as I'm concerned, but I'd much rather put up with ads than have to pay for it. Cubed ("3") was nice, too, but it had a little less functionality. N7 pissed me off cuz it dropped a bunch of folders in with its art. Cluttered up my drive. Still haven't gotten around to deleting all of them, though I uninstalled N7.

I've had the 480x800 Rockbox on my SGP now for a little while, so on that same note, I installed the 540x960 RB on my phone today.....looks very nice!

Not free but do yourself a favor and get poweramp. Album Art is beautiful and it will fetch missing art. Easy to use also.

Yes, NO Piracy here!!

But, just for the sake of mentioning it, unless they have fixed it in the latest build (I don't think they have), you can install the 2 week poweramp trial and when it expires just go into applications / poweramp and Clear Data, it "resets" all poweramp settings including the 2 week trial, this is not Piracy, it is taking advantage of how android and poweramp work together.

Are you really this cheap and dishonest? $4.99 is very little money to pay for something you use a lot.
