Default Cases for the Z

I know that there are a few cases on ebay but 40-60$ is a little pricy does anybody know any sites where you can get one for a little cheaper. i just want something to protect hose edges that seem to chip all the time. i am currently just protecting it from scratches by using a carbon fiber decal i cut myself. it protects it from scratches but i need something a little better.

Uh... That's a neg, unless you can coax Vaja into making you a custom one.
Or if you can find a small pouch for 4.3" GPS devices, that's be nice too. But downside is, ya can't use your Z while it's in the case.

Or just buy a case from the Bay.

That is pricy for a case, why not look at some of those generic cases. Something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-Bag-Son...item46014bd5c7

Think $40-60 is pricy? Check out Norêve of Saint-Tropez. A basic case for the BlackBerry PlayBook costs $92 plus shipping, which is what stopped me from buying a PlayBook, really.

They made cases for the LT26i but not the Z. I wonder whether it's because of the curved back. In any case (no, that's not a double-ended gun), if Norêve makes a case for the Z, I'm buying one.

yeah the price is quite high. But their leather is impeccable, so there's that.

Yes I do think it's expensive and I am familiar with Norêve leather cases but if cases is your thing, I like their quality and don't see a problem paying extra for that. Although I'm not a case type of guy, I prefer my devices naked

Although I do own a few cases. I either use them to pair a DAP w/amp or for travel, aside from that I don't use them ...

Yeah to me, it really depends. I generally prefer the "cold metal" feeling of most devices, if available. My PCM-D50, all metal and lots of jagged edges, is a joy to grab. But it's not a D1, the paint does scratch off, and I have to mount it on my belt. So I use a case. My D6C, on the other hand, I use it without cases. That thing just looks plain badass.

On the subject of paint, that also depends. I like the weathered look on some old machines, such as muscle cars missing a door and all. The D6C, being all black, would look even better if it was missing some lettering here and there. But all the lettering is intact, so I won't force it. However the D50 is grey. So it wouldn't look as nice weathered.

It's a whole other story with smaller devices. Stuff like the Z are too thin to provide a sure grip (and unlike a Clip+, you cannot afford to drop it). So a case is kinda required to both augment the physical size and to provide a better grip. I know I can no longer admire the deep red paint, done by steam deposition, but oh well. If the edges chip because of the absence of a case, it'll look more un-nice. I'll just wait for the lustre to fade out evenly. Or maybe I can force it with acetone...

Either that or I have been buying really expensive cases for my devices. I think $50 for a case is a fine price.

For run of the mill cases in the US they average between a few bucks to around $15.00, anything more than that and it’s expensive unless it's a specialty case. But as I said before; specialty cases like the Norêve are a different story and worth the extra spend. Also certain cases for possibly working out or waterproof cases for boating are justified a little more spend as well. Unfortunately the prices are more expensive for our brethren abroad :/ Regardless, I'd rather have all my investment in headphones and audio player than an expensive case, BTW I paid less than $50.00 for my 8GB Clip.

I’m not saying these links below will fit the Z series but I’m just pointing out that good cases can be had in the price range I mentioned.
$8.99 http://www.amazon.com/igadgitz-NWZ-E...pd_sim_sbs_e_3
$9.95 & comes with car charger too http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Walkman-D...4266282&sr=1-4
$7.63 http://www.amazon.com/DLO-Philips-El...266282&sr=1-10
$6.50 and this case also comes with screen protector, wall charger and fishbone keychain http://www.amazon.com/Accessories-Bu...266282&sr=1-22
$4.99 also comes w/belt clip and fishbone keychain http://www.amazon.com/Thermoplastic-...266507&sr=1-25

I could go on, there's hundreds of them here but I think you get the idea.

Edit: I looked around a little and since the player is still relatively new release here there's no good after market options available yet but I bet they soon come ...

Actually you can pick up a camera case/GPS case at your local The Source. Or is it RatShack in the USA...

EDIT: Also "relatively new" could not be the reason for the lack of 3rd party accessories (for the Z). Look at the LT26i. Norêve already has two cases for it.

My money is on the humpback. Either that or no one really expects the Z to be popular, that is, enough to make a profit off it.

Default Sony Cases...What a F-n Joke

Sony is too busy like everyone else making iCases. Sony won't even make a docking systems for their players compare to the stuff they make for Apple products.

If you can't promote and compliment accessories for your own brand. Why would anyone else?

Do what I have done and but some Zagg Inivishield skins and cut to form or like product. Save some money go to the clearance bin in your local brick and mortar and buy a skin for somediscontinued phone or tablet for a couple of bucks and cut to form.

I bought a boat load of Nyte-Eyes clips in the clearance bin for a buck a piece. Attatched a few of them to my Skinned Sony players and now use them like a shuffle or Clip.

But this is not what you are asking for. Make your own case or protection. Go to the Hardware store and buy some Plasi-Dip of Handtools. There is Spray on and Paint on. You could paint on the edges a thin coat and if it wears off...not likely you will have plenty o fPlasi-Dip to reapply. Comes in all colors.

WOW what a F'n great ideal.

The prices I do see are way to F-n high and most of what I have seen is unappealing and limited in options. So there!

I am serious about the PlasiDip though.

Of course it is a great ideal. You want it? Go get it. Cannot afford? Gather up enough means or stop wanting it. That simple.

The Z has about the same dimensions as the Sony LT26i portable telephone. Universal cases intended for such a phone (such as the Norêve Xperia S Tradition C) may be able to fit the Z.

Any updates for cases? I just ordered a Z and would like a case to go with it, but I am finding that it is still rather difficult to find one at a reasonable price. I'm considering buying this one from amazon but if anyone else has any better solutions I'd like to hear them!

Also does anyone know if its more of a pinkish red like in the pic or more red? Thanks

For those who care, the Australian (apparently) company PDair now makes some leather cases for the Z.

Too bad Norêve St-Tropez is never going to make one.
