Nemesea - The Quiet Resistance - 2011
![]() Despite the psycho-babble spoken word start to this thing, most of the rest is total ear candy. Manda Ophuis is a little shaky on the quiet, reserved parts but when she's belting it out, it's fantastic. So much so I'm going after the other back catalog ASAP.

Rage - 21 - 2012
![]() A little slow start to this one, but Victor Smolski is on fire on this one with some crazy guitar work, especially in the middle. It then settles into a pound out near the end. The copy I bought has a bonus disc of a tokyo concert on the strings to a web tour, but the sound quality is dubious at best.

H.E.A.T. - Address The Nation - 2012
![]() First couple of H.E.A.T. albums were pretty fabulous AOR/Melodic rock albums in their own right, but the addition of Erik Grönwall on vocals just give them a little extra grit/swagger/edge that turns things up 1/2 a notch. This is a damn near perfect album, the only real beef I have is universal one. At some point they have some fake vinyl pops and cracks, which should be banished from CDs forever.

Sha(a)man - RituAlive - 2004 - DVD
![]() Been off most of the week, so I'm semi-watching at the same time. This is a Andre Matos' post-angra band (before he left), right after the first record, with some help from friends Tobias Sammet, Andi Deris, Michael Weikath & Sascha Paeth. Fabulous sound & energy from the crowd. Only wish there was a professional post "Reason" concert video because that disc is even better than the record this tour was built on.

Vandenberg - Live In Japan 1984 - DVD
![]() Pretty great sound & video considering the era. Interesting to hear the demise of the band explained by all parties. Mine was PAL only.

Pink Cream 69 - Past & Present - 2009
![]() A boatload of material on 2 dvds, from the band's inception up to a fabulous 2009 concert. I hope none of this was re-recorded, although I have to wonder. There's also some concert footage from 2007, and a 1992 Kawasaki Japan concert which I assume was previously video tape and/or laser disc only. Biggest downsides to this are the price now (based on amazon listings), the period costumes, and the video editing which sometimes makes the movie speed racer seem calm by comparison.

Sebastian Bach - Kicking And Screaming - 2011
![]() A lot of good here, the music sounds great, and Seb has some great Skid Rowian moments, but sprinkled throughout there's some not quite cringe worthy moments too which lets the whole thing down.

Kimball Jamison - Kimball Jamison - 2011
![]() I'm assuming this was inspired by the great Jorn Lande / Russell Allen discs, and this matchup looks like a dream on paper. One amazon reviewer said this should really be called Jamison Kimball, because the songs and emphasis seems heavily slanted in Jimi's direction, and I agree. Bobby never really gets a chance to get fired up. Hopefully there will be a round two with the balance shifted in the reverse direction.
