AIAIAI TMA-1 Closed Headphone

So, after seeing and drooling over these for awhile now, I finally got a listen today at Best Buy. Man, I'm impressed. I really liked the sound of these. A lot of life and nice separation. The look in person were even better than the pics.

I might just need to pick these up at some point soon. Thanks dfkt for yet another stellar recommendation!

The Best Buy within walking distance of my workplace doesn't either. Guess I'll have to swing by the other one the next time I'm out shopping.

On that note -- kasrhp, did your Best Buy also have the Studios out to demo...or just the original TMA-1s?

Supposedly the Studio's are available by me,...I'll have to take my hd25-1 ii's to compare them. I chose the senn's over the tma-1, so I need to hear if I prefer the Studio's over my hd25-1 ii's.

Epithetless, my best buy had these with a neon green cable. I didn't see the Studios, but our Best Buy is insane and has headphones all over the store in andom spots. I stumbled upon these in the DJ section I didn't know they had.

I'd check Best Buys website. They do a pretty good job of updating their selection online for in store pickup...meaning you can see if your store has them in stock before tracking over there.

They are certainly worth a listen and then some

Thanks for the reply, kasrhp. One of the Best Buys near me does stock the Studios, but it looks like I'll have to go there to know if it's actually out for testing. I'm a big fan of the original TMA-1s (those and the VMODA M-80s are my favorite portable cans right now), and I'd love to hear how the Studios differ.

I had the chance to try the TMA-1 Studio a few days ago, and though I find the TMA-1s more comfortable (I guess I prefer on-ear) the Studio's are quite nice. I also had the chance to test whether normal jack cables work with the new locking system which the TMA-1 Studio uses, and everything works. Normal jack cables doesn't lock, but can be used just fine - and the included jack cable which supports this locking mechanism works just fine on normal plugs too. I really wish my TMA-1s had this locking feature now.

So how did they sound, did you like the SQ? I'm just the opposite and prefer circumaural like the Studio version VS the TMA-1s that are supra-aural, although I've not tried either one yet. BTW the locking jack on the Shure's (SRH series) sucks IMO and makes it a little harder to mod the cable without one, so that's a good point you make about the 3.5mm jack.

Eh? No Line Out Dock involved. That's just the TMA-1 connected directly to a Sansa Clip+'s headphone jack via a short interconnect.

So sorry for not following up on your reply! Well, I decided not to comment on the SQ since the TMA-1s are my very first pair of headphones (previously only used IEMs). I'm not really sure what to say other that they are different. They felt even more bass-heavy than the TMA-1s, but definitely not in the same way. If I remember right they sounded a bit clearer though. Don't hang me up on this though, it was a long time ago and all I have ever listened to headphone-wise are the TMA-1s. :P
