Engadget just did an article on Cowon Plenue Z2. I didn't fully read it but the reviewer is describing the interface snappy and just as easy to use as a samsung galaxy s II which is a considerable contrast to the other Android Cowon players (at least that what I can tell by reviews).

Mind posting some more info on this? It's the first I'd heard V-Moda was reapproriating a pre-existing design for the VAMP. I have absolutely no interest in a portable amp (especially one latched onto an iPhone and commanding a $650 price tag), mind you -- I'm just curious to read the deets.

Ah, okay. I've been doing head-fi detox lately. Guess I'll have to venture back there and read all about it.

Considering I only buy headphones my portable players can handle ('cause it's not as though low-impedence, high-sensitivity headphones are in short supply), no external amp is worth any price to me. $650 is just obscene.

There's been a few new releases that should have been on the front page - good or bad.

Yesterday the Samsung Muse MP3 player was released, and on the 4th of December the iriver astel&kern player hit.

Both belong on the front page, nothing was posted.

Really? Is somebody interested in a S Pebble (= Muse) review? I don't think so

I haven't even come back to abi for quite some time. And still there is the news about the Bass Egg. From Nov 19th. Like I said, I haven't gone on here in a long time, so I could be wrong... Maybe the forums are still active, but it looks to me as if abi is slowly dying...

I think pmps are slowly dying in favor of just playing media on smartphones and tablets. I still have an appreciation for pmps like the sansa clips which i own an 8gb clip + which I still use daily. I guess what I'm getting at is as standalone mp3 players slowly phase out so does the site talking about them

But what's sad is the general public doesn't realize that pmps are specifically good at what they do. Smartphones may do everything, but they don't do any one thing particularly well. Where as pmps specialize. It's sad to see them die out. Yes I have an android, do I use it for music? Hell no. I have a pair of Sony EX300's for a damn reason, why would I use IEM's like those on a smartphone with a shitty audio amp? Much rather have something that pushes, like a Sony or a Cowon.

My Lumia 920 sounds excellent, plays video quite well on a great looking screen, has good battery life, and can utilize quite a few great accessories. Android phones are just as good, some even better. Even the iPhone is an ass-kicker.

Sorry, even if I still use a dedicated media player, they're on their way out. They're a dying breed.
