![]() Microsoft isn’t the only tech company teasing an announcement set for Monday, June 18. Nokia has uploaded two images to its Facebook page teasing the date “06.18.12.” While some people initially believed that Nokia might have something to do with Microsoft’s “major announcement,” a little digging seems to have put this theory into question. The first teaser image shows a map of the Pacific Ocean, with Hawaii just visible on the right-hand side. The presence of map controls and two “pushpins” on Honolulu seems to imply some sort of mapping-related announcement. Nokia, of course, continues to tighten its relationship with Microsoft, serving up traffic data for Bing Maps and possibly even becoming the default mapping application on Windows Phone 8, complete with 3D navigation. The most recent image, however, is a shot of a Roland TR-808 drum machine. It’s probably no coincidence that there’s a connection to one of Nokia’s own smartphones, the 808 PureView, which packs a massive 16MP camera. There’s a chance that Nokia will use this opportunity to announce a launch date for the United States. Then again, what if it’s a combination of all three? Nokia could very well announce a Microsoft-branded Windows tablet featuring Nokia Maps and a PureView camera. Do you have any ideas? [Nokia Facebook via The Verge]
