Google has released the first version of Chrome designed for Windows 8’s Metro UI. Well, sort of. The app doesn’t actually follow any of Microsoft’s Metro UI design guidelines, instead opting to display the traditional chrome browser in a full-screen window.
Tise ‘Metro-style’ app is bundled with the traditional Chrome desktop app, and requires you to set it as the default browser before it will work. It should be noted, however, that this is a dev channel release, meaning that it’s a very early look at the next version of Chrome. It also, obviously, requires that you have the Windows 8 Release Preview installed.
If you’re willing to risk using a very early beta browser on a pre-release operating system, you can head over to
Chrome Dev channel and install the latest release. We’ll have a full preview of Chrome on Windows 8 up on fellow CrowdGather Gadget Network site
Pocketables soon.
