Yep, it will probably come after RB adapts to the new firmware; have been frustrated by some aspects of the OF (especially file limits and db refreshes, and microSD card glitches). But haven't wanted to (possibly) give up DRM capability by installing RB, as I keep on thinking of all those library collection holdings (that I haven't been using) . . . .

I made that statement because on my previous model (v1) I would patch the software fairly soon after release and I never had a problem. Although I don't know if the developers were busy making the appropriate changes before I patched the new OF.

It could be just me but that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried the most recent version of the Rockbox Utility, v1.2.13, and patching this firmware version manually and both failed with the same error message so I'm fairly sure an update would be needed to use this version.

I will occasionally boot to the OF if a someone has a question and I want to be sure they get accurate information. It's like the status of the AAC decoder. I have a few albums encoded with various AAC encoders. I give those a try with the new firmware versions. It helps to know first hand if someone asks why their files aren't working.

That's only important if your running in the OF.

I've noticed a bit of a time lag with the Clip Zip as well, and thought it might have to do with the fact that the Clip Zip port has not yet been formally committed; or perhaps is due to a slightly lesser interest with the Zip. And then, of course, the latest Clip Zip firmware came out on a holiday day/afternoon and weekend for many people.

Yes, the tools will refuse to patch a firmware version not on their whitelist. This is so that if Sandisk releases a new firmware that can't be safely patched, only a developer bricks their player rather then everyone who tries to update. This is unlikely, but we wanted to be safe since it would suck to brick everyone's player.

If you want to test you can remove the check in the code and compile your own mkamsboot that doesn't check, or just wait for someone to update the white list. We probably used to be faster about this since we needed the OF for USB. Now that USB works in rockbox, I don't think people are paying as close attention to the OF anymore.

I saw the OF for the first time in months yesterday, on the Zip I am selling, and I most likely will never see it again on my one remaining Zip.

I do not know if is just me but after i did the update my player seems to have more bass

either that or my van speakers are going out

This new firmware has various bug fixes, including key fixes listed below, as well as enhancements. May have been mentioned elsewhere, note the latest Rockbox is not compatible with Clip-Zip revisions above 01.01.18. I guess that will be changing soon.

Doesn't matter to me....I never use the OF anyway so I don't care what version it is.
