Well said.

Malware can bypass AVs. Just keeping your software up to date is far more important IMO.

Strangely I find viruses amusing, only the killing of the virus part is of course lol Its like a challenge of how fast I can kill the virus.

I just upgraded Microsoft Security Essentials to the new version 4.0. Seems to be working fine. A slight interface change:

I have McAfee on my computer, which I don't like very much. I use it because I got 4 years of it for free when I bought my computer.

Avast Internet Security Suite - FTW!!! http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Inter...-75095376.html

NOD32 is also good, but TOO damn expensive.

McAfee sucks IMO. @Ceramic, if you got it for free, then why not remove it? There are many free options available that work well.

@TDS, I used to use the free version of Avast! before MSE came out. It was good, but I like the simplicity of MSE.

Never looked at NOD32.

Router Firewall + Windows 7 Firewall + Microsoft Security Essentials + Mozilla Firefox (with NoScript, ABP, FlashBlock) + my brain = Absolutely no problems. Ever. (IMO, the brain is the most important part... most problems occur because people don't use their brain)

Microsoft Security Essentials + Hitman Pro + Windows Firewall + Chrome with the AdBlock and DoNotTrackPlus extensions and an occasional scan by SuperAntiSpyware have kept me safe.

I use Opera with Adblock extention, which is probably why I don't run into any viruses lol I love how that adblock add-on even denies me being redirected to a shady site and Windows Firewall is always on. Funny thing is that most videos that have an ad beforehand will not load while using the Adblock add-on,like on the Yahoo articles,so it even blocks ads from videos and not just randomly placed ads.

I thought you used Firefox? DoNotTrackPlus is also a good addon. I found out about it recently.

If they're hosting the now non-rogue DNS servers, why didn't they just do the hotel thing, redirect everything to a "you've been hacked" web page?
