Zen W hard drive replacement

Hey everybody! I've got a zen w with the hardware problem from my previous thread & I would like to know a few things; first, would replacing the hard drive fix my problem and if so, would a Toshiba MK3008GAL 30GB 4200RPM 1.8" ZIF Hard Drive be compatible with my zen w?

I believe those drives will fit. As long as its single platter(which a 30GB usually is) then it will work.

Hmmmmm...ok. Sounds good, but I still don't know if it will solve my "firmware problem". I've tried the disk cleanup, & I can't even connect it to my computer to reload the firmware & Ideally, I really don't want to spend money unnecessarily. Thanks for the help though

You could always try a zif to USB or SATA cable. Plug it directly into your PC to see if it recognizes it like that.
