I was just wondering if anyone uses a protective case for their E344? If so, are some better than others? Do all button functions still operate with case is on the player?
Thanks. |

A screen shield is most important though....I just buy generic ones and trim them to size. With cases...... and without cases..... The gray case on my S545 is the official Sony one, that was $20. I only have that one because at the time there were no 3rd-party options. The black one on my E345 is a 3rd-party one, however, and even with shipping, I think it was less than $10....of course , I bought it online which may not help you any.

OK then, I got my case on Amazon.com. Just go there and type "E345 case" into the search box, and there's a bunch of them.

Try http://www.unitedintegral.com/Sony-Walkman-C27.aspx They have the same silicone cases that Sony sells for $20. Several color options for less than $3 plus shipping.

Strange....I do not use a case for my E345, only a piece of screen protector. However, I do have/use a clear plastic hardshell case for my Fuze.
I think it is because I find the E so slim that I do not want to bulk it up by adding a case. Of course, the Fuze and the E might be pretty close in thickness on paper, but dammit, the E just feels thinner in my hands. As for the Fuze case, I got a great deal on a package of accessories which included the clear case, an extra USB cable, a car charger and a wall charger...the case is also surprisingly well made, with tight tolerances for such an el-cheapo thing, all for like 8USD, no tax/no shipping. I was advised that both the screen and the Fuze fascia are prone to scratching, so I have been using the case. Silicon sleeves just don't work for me - I find they are dust magnets and get dirty/look nasty very quickly. Guess if I found a sexy, thinnish clear hardcase for the E345 I might bite...Or a slick looking leather/pleather one... :-)

My black silicone one in post #2 remains the best I have seen so far.

I use my armband as a protective case. The armband is currently on clearance at Walmart online and in the store:

I use a protective case that I purchased from Sony for my NWZ-A818. Unlike many recent cases, the case for my A818 is made of hard clear plastic with rubber button covers that allow you to use all of the controls (and connect the headphones and computer cable) without removing the case. It's unfortunate that Sony doesn't offer this type of case for its more recent players, it's an outstanding case.

I used to buy really nice protective cases. Then I got my two sony e series. They are so slim I hated to bulk them up. At first I wrapped them in saran wrap, which helped protect them from the snow blowing in my truck windows ( I plow with the windows down generally, for visibility and hearing).
Now I just put both my player and my cell phone in cheap plastic sandwich bags (not the zip lock type). Works great, protects from rain and snow better, costs nothing. I can feel and push all controls, read the screen, and answer my phone no problem while in the bag. When it gets scuffed up I just get another bag. At one or two cents, no problem. No bulk. No weight. I have some nice cases, but I'll never use them again. They actually double the size of a slim player or phone. |

By putting each in a clear plastic crystal case it increases the size and weight of the players to where both are comfortable are in my hand. The other reason is that they offer good protection for my player, especially the screen.

Screen protector only for me, i don't care about scratches on the rest of the player.

I bought mine in Amazon, I even wrote a review and uploaded some pics.
http://tinyurl.com/7reh997 It's good for protecting not only from scratches, but from bumps and accidental drops. |
