HTC released a brief report on its Q1 finances yesterday, and they aren’t pretty. Profits are down to NT$4.46 billion, as opposed to Q1 2011, which saw NT$14.8 billion in profits. In greenbacks that’s $151.2 million as opposed to $501.7 million. I certainly would not be crying about $151.2 million in profits, and HTC isn’t. Instead, it is looking to its One line to pull profits and revenue—which is also down, by about 30%—back up.
"With our new product cycle we should regain our business momentum," HTC CFO Winston Yung said in conference call way back in February, when it was already apparent that Q1 wasn’t going to be all roses. Yung also went on to state that the company's earnings are expected to return to normal in the second quarter.
Until Samsung comes out with its successor to the Galaxy S II, the HTC One X is likely to be king of the roost. Does anybody plan on providing an assist to HTC’s bottom line by way of a One X, or perhaps the new
EVO 4G LTE? Of course, if you’re not so interested in HTC’s bottom line, but are interested in HTC’s products, Verizon is doing away with its old HTC stock right now. The HTC Rhyme and DROID INCREDIBLE 2 are both
free with contract until supplies run out. Anybody still want one? For those of you who already have one, what do you like/dislike about your HTC device?
