Long story, but the crux of it is:
My J3 is broken. The tiny little "tape" of wires that joins the main Cowon to the touch screen cover has split apart. Is it at all possible to join them back together? Everything else works, except of course it's impossible to use - you forget how good physical buttons actually are... I can forget warranties, so what is the alternative process of fixing this? Is it gonna cost more than it's worth to send it somewhere? It's sad, because this is the best quality music player I've ever had. Here are some pictures: http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/...a/P3120269.jpg http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/...a/P3120270.jpg http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/...a/P3120271.jpg |

Normal broken solder joints would be fixable, but flat ribbon cables are basically impossible to fix. You would have to get a replacement cable (which probably comes attached to the digitizer), which probably isn't available on the open market for a specific device like the J3.
Long story short - sending it back to Cowon for repair is probably the only possibility. And yeah, it's probably not going to be cheap.

Damn. Funny thing is when I touch both ends together, there is some random activity on the screen. It's such a tease! One tiny part broken and it's rendered completely useless.
