I've noticed a strange phenomenon with my Clix (2GB)... Playing a series of albums normally, my battery lasts for quite a while (had it running non-stop today for 10 hours, and it had just gone down to one "tick" on the battery gauge). However, when I select SHUFFLE for any number of tracks, the battery power is reduced to as few as 7 or 8 hours. Has anyone else noticed anything similar???

Hello Mrchrister, I am not sure about this, but I think that the battery did not last as long using the Shuffle mode as in the Normal mode I used before.
Well, it depends on the kind of music I am listening to, but there are some albums I like to listen to in Shuffle mode instead of straight forward from the beginning. I am not quite sure whether it is really the Shuffle mode which causes this battery problem because I put a Sleep timer on it. My impression is that using the Shuffle mode the battery does not last as long as using the Normal playing mode. But the difference it not so dramatic with my player (4GB, Firmware 2.00 US). There is one observation which struck me right from the beginning: There is no way to STOP a playing song. All you can do is just PAUSE the song playing. If you go back in the main menu and choose “Now Playing” the song you just paused will be displayed waiting to be continued by you. I am not sure whether this waiting in the background might cause some kind of a leak. Some loops might be going on as a background process and if you choose Shuffle it will not really end (and play on as long as the battery will allow it) as it might be ending if it was playing the Normal mode. And as DLF describes it in the other threat: Quote:
I also observed that the battery went down more than usually when I decided to turn the player off before the Sleep timer was reached. The next day there was no animated splash screen and the setting of the Sleep timer was still active and let the player fall asleep (as set the day before). This means the player shuts this “Now Playing” off after some time. I wonder whether your battery will last any longer if you do not PAUSE any music file (in whatever playing mode)? I think the problem is caused by a combination of these rather complicated features we all love so much about this player—at least I do.
