Better in terms of what (your taste)? Better for what (your needs)?

Try to READ some posts before asking such an ambiguous question, there's no such thing as a "best IEM for everyone".
PMPs: Cowon X7 160Gb, Sony NWZ-A847 (64Gb).
IEMs: Yamaha EPH-100, Shure SE535 Special Edition

Headphones: AKG K240-MKII
To sell: JVC HA-FX300, Philips SHE9850

The UM3X is the best of the bunch IMO.

I don't think I can comment on the others but I just got a Westone 4R.

Most important thing for me is that the earphones don't add or subtract anything from the music source and so far, the 4R is closest to that ideal. I have a cowon D2 and record my stuff in 320kbps mp3/ogg or use wav. So far, among all my phones, the 4R is the only one that actually sounds better WITHOUT BBE/mach3/EQ enhancements.

They give you a heap of ear buds to try out. I use their grey mid sized "ear plug" ones and they're exceptional at keeping noise out. However, you have to wait till it fills up your ear canal and you have to remove them if you want to talk to anybody.

These are also my first multi-driver phones. My old one's were V-Moda Vibes, which also have a very even response (although it still benefited from some enhancement, albeit minimal). That said, I'm never going to a single driver setup again. Instrument separation, bass response, treble and mids clarity and level are all unparalleled.

I don't know, I guess I'm more blown away because I'm going from a single driver setup to a 4 driver one. But, compared to my home sound system (Musical Fidelity Tube Preamp, Onkyo power amp, B&W towers), the 4R sounds the most like them in character.

Hope this helps!

Triple.Fi 10 is another option and way cheaper than any of them. There's also the Triple.Fi 10 Pro.

I had a pair of UE Triple.Fi 10 and I thought they sounded superb.

However, they are NOT comfortable or easy to fit!! I had to use the trick of switching the cables round (ie L in R and R in L ear without losing original stereo) to get a good seal.

However, I guess I used them on a cold day and the housing cracked. Cable feels horrible as well, really thick! Insane microphonics!

So, I somewhat reluctantly, dropped £320 on some Westone 4's!!

There is a definite increase in sound quality over the UE's. Separation is outstanding. Bass sounds phenomenal. Super comfortable and easy to get a good seal. Cable is nice and relatively low on microphonics (nothing is perfect).

Overall, even with the price tag, I'd say the Westone 4 experience gives way better value for money compared to the UE Triple.Fi 10's.

(I doubt anyone has ears good enough to tell the difference between the 4's and the 4R's but the removable cable option is always useful)
