It would be nice if they could offer a beefier processor and more RAM, I'm not too hung up on the the other options suggested by the OP, they would be nice of course but they could force the price to be too steep.

Although it lacks the stereo speakers in the back I too would love the Note; only I dont want it as a phone. I am also wondering what the future holds for the SGP5 as a I see it is now down to $219 on Amazon. I hope that it can last another generation, I mean if they produced it as a direct competitor to the Touch it would be silly IMHO, to just kill it off, obviously with the success of the Note there is interest in that size; producing a 5 inch tablet with the same storage limitations as their others would be kinda retarded.

Don't worry, once you buy it you'll probably NOT want to buy anything else or upgrade for a VERY LONG while lol thats how I feel after buying mine. I've been waiting YEARS for this device to finally be created(Its my dream device, something with a huge screen, very long battery life, plays movies, videos and all media without much problem and is affordable.) And its finally created so I'm superhappy.

Screw all these other smartphones and 7 inch and bigger tablets,I don't want them lol

ya hit the nail on the head.

I'm not 'looking' forward to new model either as I am quite happy with what I have already; I just hope that they continue the line.

Discussion of a product on the Internet goes through predictable phases.
  1. Release.
  2. Bragging by fanboys that it's that best damn thing mankind has ever created.
  3. Disappointment that x features are missing.
  4. Demands that new firmware deliver such features. Of course they will. They love their dedicated customers! They wouldn't do us like this!
  5. Giving up on new firmware.
  6. Speculation on next product release. So that's why they aren't fixing the firmware! Something beyond our wildest imaginations is in the works! You can feel it!
  7. Rumor after rumor after rumor of new product features.
  8. Rumor after rumor after rumor of release date.
  9. Anger that competing manufacturers have already released better products.
  10. Declarations that the multi-biliion dollar manufacturer will go out of business if they don't release something within the next few days.
  11. Threats of switching to other manufacturer's product and never looking back. How dare they do us like this!
  12. Vague press release that gives fanboys hope.
  13. Go back to #1.

For some people, it's impossible for them to enjoy the product they've bought if they have the slightest feeling that something slightly better is out there or will be out there soon.

Im not trying to discourage anyone from buying the SGP 5.0. Its already a great product that features many things that the competition doesn't have. I just want Samsung to continue the Samsung Galaxy Player Line and not kill it off. The white plastic back of the Samsung Galaxy Player lineup just doesn't look up to date with the current galaxy tabs. It looks very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tabs 7.0 back and I know that this isnt part of the Galaxy Tab lineup but it should be IMO

It turns out that they only released the SGP 3.6 in Korea overseas. The future of the Samsung Galaxy Player doesnt look too good. I would expect them to release a second generation of the Samsung Galaxy Player with upgraded specs if the sales were so good in Korea but they didnt.

To properly do number two, you must swear that the product is perfect -- no flaws whatsoever. Before you purchased this product, your life had no meaning. Every day was just like every other. Then when you purchased a Samsung Galaxy suddenly the sky was bluer, food tasted better and the air smelled cleaner. You slept better knowing that when you woke up, your SGP5 would be there to make your day wonderful. You pity the other people who walk around with inferior products.

Then in a month you have to come back to do number three: list critical improvements that Samsung must make before anyone would ever consider purchasing it.

The digital photography boards are infested with this kind of thinking. You'd swear these guys (and they're all guys) are just waiting for a camera that's good enough for them to take a good picture with.

The price is still $229 on Newegg with their newcustomer10 promo code but anyways. As for improvements? Just a more up to date processor and maybe a 4000mAH battery that can last for 20 hours of video playback and thats it really lol

The back is white but the entire front is black. To be honest I like the color,it would be ugly if the entire thing was black. It would probably have black glossy plastic which is really dull to me IMHO.

FWIW, IMHO, most folks I hear from put a case on theirs; either a colored silicon one or, like me, a portfolio type; either way the white back is covered, hence, no worries of 'dust' on the white back.

As well, if the white vs black issue is anything like an automobile, black, in my experience, is by far the worst for showing dirt & grime. I do not have any black devices though other than the front of my 30gb iPod classic...and its covered by a case.
