Reccomend Me an Amp for my RS120

I just got a pair of sennheisr rs120 but I'm finding I have to sacrifice between volume and clarity. I just can't find the perfect balance. I can either have 0 interference with too quiet volume or a little bit of hiss and loud. Can anyone reccomend me a cheap amp that doesn't need to be charged? I was looking at the e6 but i don't want to charge it. if i picked the most clear channel and amplified the volume would that work?

I haven't tried the RS120, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those the wireless open style headphones? and I might be out in left field here, just a thought ... do you know where the hiss is coming from? Could it be RF interruption or some other in home signal that's causing it? If so, the last thing you need is an amp, I would explore where the off sound is coming from first.

What source are you hooking them up to? These are wireless headphones as WalkGood guessed. They have an AC powered docking/transmitting station. Which means impedance doesn't really matter, they already amp up the signal to go wireless. That being said having a higher voltage source could possibly make them louder though.

State your current source and what other RF wireless electronics you have in the vicinity.

nvm they have a switch on the base for 2 additonal channels i didn't see the other 2 are much better. a amp could help in the future though

An 'amp' isn't going to change much. About the only reason you use that is if your having impedance issues. Your wireless headphones aren't going to have any issues like that.

A decent DAC would make a difference though.

excuse my ignorance but what is a dac?

A DAC is a Digital-Analog-Converter. Its the unit that is often referred to as a 'sound card' in a PC. Its what takes the digital mp3 files and turns them into an analog signal that your headphones use to move the drivers. Some DAC's don't have a high enough out-put to drive some high impedance headphones, so you need to add a good amp to put with your DAC.

In your situation your wireless headphones basically have the amp built in, they just need an analog signal going to them.

It would be helpful if you would state your audio source, be it PC, portable media player or whatever else you have hooked up to it.

I agree with everything you said, only wanted to add to the bold is another reason to amp would be for increased volume level, but probably not needed IMHO.
