That's got more bass than the HA-M750's I recommended.

Too much bass is not a good thing though, especially if the lower midrange is also boosted, and vocals sound too warm. The reviews I read on the HAS4x seem better than those of the HAM5x, and the HAS4X is also much less expensive. The reviews claim the HAS4x is much better balanced than the HAM5x. The trick is getting the strong bass, but also getting a relatively untainted midrange.

Darkside, you don't find the vocals on the Sony XB-500 to be too warm?

The XB500 I tried sounded fantastic, but it's not a reference quality headphone.

I guess it also depends on the music you're listening to. Boosted lower midrange sounds awful with rock and metal imo while it might sound perfectly fine with some electronica.

How about the Sennheiser HD228($35) or if you want to splurge and spend $95, the Sennheiser HD25 SP2?
