Here's what I've dug up so far
http://www.amazon.com/atFoliX-FX-Cle.../dp/B004MPVGF2 http://www.amazon.com/REALOOK-Cowon-.../dp/B003RBFDJM Also, the standard Cowon screen protector. Any advice? Thanks in advance. |

Any screen protector will do, though the J3 has a Gorilla Glass layer so it should be fine even without one.

Unfortunately, even the Gorilla Glass will scratch.
As far as the choice of screen protectors, it is true that any will do. Some, however, will do better than others. A few considerations off the top of my head: Fit, image modification, ease of correct application, glare, durability, effects on the screen after removal, dirt and oil collection, quality of the seal around the edges and whether it is prone to peeling off, effects on using the touchscreen, smoothness of swiping motions... Just wondering if anyone has some personal experience that might help in making the decision

The Gorilla Glass on the J3 can and most likely will get scratched. Yes a steel knife wont touch it, but a puny grain of sand(quartzite) can still scratch it deeply. And remember, Quartz is one of the most common minerals on the surface of the earth, so you may have a difficult time escaping it.
I usually use 3M Clear Bra on all my electronics. I buy it in rolls and cut it to fit so I can use it on anything. I've put it and all sides of my old Cowon D2's and they're in perfect condition today. It is built for car bumpers so its very strong. It doesn't effect how the touch screen operates.

I'll add that one to the list, although I don't know if I trust myself to cut it properly haha. Would be nice to have that versatility though.

Why not just use the "official" Cowon LCD screen protector sheet?
I've had one on my J3 for 1 1/2 years and it's done a perfect job of protecting the screen, while itself remaining unscuffed and unscratched. My J3 itself lives in the official Cowon leather case, so I didn't use the Cowon body protector sheet. Zero impact of the screen protector sheet on viewing pictures and video through the sheet. Looks transparent as if it were just not there. |

The great thing about the 3M is if you mess up, you still have a whole roll to mess with. I generally apply a piece larger than my screen then cut it out with a razor(in place). I'm a professional razor blade handler though.
