Help. When I purchased my Sansa Clip (2GB) several years ago, I was using a PC. Now I have an iMac. When I recharge the Sansa and turn it on, the window says I need to dump 4MB. How can I do that when my iMac doesn't seem to recognize the Sansa?

Disconnect the Clip. Go to settings, system settings, usb mode. Set it to MSC. Reconnect the player. Now your Mac should see the player.

I'm not a Mac user, but I seem to recall reading that Macs like to write extra files to the player. Perhaps that is why the extra space is required.

Thanks for this, but where do I find 'settings, etc.' on my iMac. I looked under the Apple drop-down menu and the Safari drop-down menu...nothing there.

How to force MSC mode.
Enabling or forcing MSC mode on your Sansa player What to do if can get it to connect. "Not enough space for MusicDB, Please free ..." error message appears on the Sansa player There's a link to the Mac instructions on the lower part of the page. Can't help much more than that. My Mac knowledge is very limited.

Okay....but that's the problem.... I can't get the Clip to show anything on the screen other than the message to dump 4MB. It pops up on the screen and then shuts down.

Have you followed the links I posted and the directions there? No telling if it will work in your case but is has helped others that have posted the same problem here.

Skip252.... you ask "Have you followed the links I posted and the directions there?" Well, I'd like to, but I have an iMac. The link you provided says: "To resolve this capacity issue, you have to delete contents on your Sansa player using a PC." As for my iMac, it is not recognizing my Sansa through the USB. think I'll pass this cute little Sansa Clip player to a PC owner.

You are a PC owner. In this case PC=Personal Computer.
That doesn't designate a operating system. The directions are the same if it's Windows, Mac, or Linux.
