Hi,
So I just bought a Clip+ and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem is that, just like my old Creative Zen, it classifies anything that starts with "The" under T, not under the first letter of the second word (e.g The Beatles is under T, not B). This has resulted in the T section being disproportionately long, which I do not like. What can I do to fix this? Thanks! |

Maybe create a folder called Beatles and use folder view?

You could either start thinking of them as "The Beatles" or as dgb52 stated change some labels. This is a first world problem

Edit the metadata of ID3 tags and call them what ever the hell you wish to call them with Mp3Tag, its free.

On my players they are called "Beatles, The", or "Beatles" depending how I felt when I created them. As already mentioned tag editting is pretty simple.
Oh, another solution...overpay for an iPod. I believe that they ignore certain small words like 'the', 'and', 'a'. Steve |

Is this something Rockbox can fix?

I'm not sure what you mean by "fix," unless you rename the files how you want them to appear. If you use the file browser and you have them properly named, then yes. If you use the database system it uses the information contained in the tags (ID3v1, ID3v2, Vorbis comments, Apev2, etc.). That’s why I said earlier to use mp3tag and tag them how you wish, it’s easy.

I didn't check before writing this, so I might be way off. Isn't there a field for id3 for "Sort Artist," where you can name the sort artist "Beatles", and leave them "The Beatles" for artist?

looks like you should buy the Zip.... the latest firmware ignores "a" and "the" by default: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/sho...611#post577611

Showing you can't please everyone: I prefer having my player recognize the "The" or "A", as that is how I know my tunes.
