thank you very much my friend....it worked!I used tcctool and did the process again.
I used the manual about the broken firmwares and my D2 is alive again...THANK YOU very much man....

Default Failed to update D2

Hello!

I have followed your instrutction for trying to updating the D2 firmware from version 2.59 to D2+ version 2.13. First it seemed fine, the D2N_P.bin from the D2 firmware that I downloaded and copy to root i the player, starting the working process-bar in the player, but then the tcctool did not found the player.

After that, the player just was deat, and after pressing Reset, the screen is just white, and i canīt get it in USB-mode with Menu-button.

What is your recommendation for me to do now?
Everything I have tried will not work.

Great regards: Mikael

Default Finally- it worked!

Jippiii! I did it, did it without tcctool!

The only thing I missed was to change the language (I want swedish). How to do that now?

Great regards: Mikael

It would definitely be very helpful for future D2 upgraders, to include in this tutorial, an initial summary of all the files which should be present in the c:/firmware directory before attempting to run the tcctool from the command prompt.

OMG I dood it ... flashed my 8GB D2 to firmware v2.13 successfully !!! Thanks FURR. I'm playing moslty Q3 Ogg Vorbis files and what I observe after this "upgrade" is that battery life got a lot more extended. With sw v3.59 battery life seemed to be a lot shorter

Sounds cool...
1 question though please, if I do as suggested and upgrade to D2+ via FURR's post above, will the DAB still work on my D2 DAB?

Hi,

Worked as a charm, using the Ubuntu non-tcctool variant from iaudiophile (was on 2.56, upgraded to 2.59 then to multiboot and with that to finally 2.13 directly). So you don't need to use the 2.01/2.02 as inbetween step for 2.13, just use the bin file(s) directly.

I'm really intrigued by the scientific calculator, the number of comparable ones for other OS's are difficult to find.. (have never checked it on the old FW...)

The sound is really awesome now, I like it even better than before. Thanks for all the D2+ tips! And my own one: Try setting display brightness low, I seem to have never done this before and should save quite on battery time.

Unhappy Still having trouble...

Okay, I have gotten to the point where I don't know what else to do. I have a D2 that responds just fine to tcctool but when the USB cable is disconnected nothing happens! I have gotten the D2+ V2.13 firmware to load and the player immediately goes to the USB connected / battery charging screen. It even says the battery is fully charged. I can get it to show the rockbox boot screen immediately after loading a rockbox boot firmware through tcctool. If a SD card containing the .roxkbox files is in the player when I load the rockbox firmware through tcctool the player will boot into rockbox and work just fine, but if I turn it off it will not turn on again. I can get up to the last step with the normal D2 firmware 2.59 but can't do the last step since the player will not respond to being powered on when unplugged from the computer. But all of this is while still connected to the computer. I know the power switch works because while charging I can turn the LCD backlight back on by sliding it into the power position. But no matter what I do I can not get the D2 to turn on when unplugged from the computer. Just black screen. It is driving me crazy. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks!
