I'd rather people bought quality stuff as that brings economies of scale where they are sorely needed and makes the good shit cheaper. The added demand would also incentivize manufacturers to focus on quality, thereby reducing waste and redundancy in the system which is good for the planet. As if that isn't enough it would save me a boatload of research time.

Don't know if it was already mentioned here:

Monster iBeats Justin Bieber

Nice color... for a 12-years old girl, which I guess is probably the market for those...

Partial translation if I may:

Born from the collaboration between singer Justin Bieber and Monster engineers, Beats IEMs have the ControlTalk functionality, which allows you to take control of your iPod or iPhone without taking it out of your pocket.
Disappointed by the sound of most headsets, the artist wanted a model able to retranscript all the music impact and dynamic, the way professionals create it and they way it is mixed in studios.
The bet is won with iBeats : they push a lot of bass while keeping precise treble and amazing clarity in voices, thanks to light widthband transductors integrated into ultra-rigid metal casings. These casings prevent undesired vibrations through their monobloc structure. They also favorize comfort by being very light weight.
...
Justin's Bieber iBeats Monster shine - which is rare for IEMs - by their unique aesthetics, even in your ears.
Comfortable, with advanced functionalities and an uncommon dynamic, iBeats bring a new pleasure to music listening.

Usual pile of bullsh** to sell usual "boom-boom" iBeats with an ugly purple paint.

Any full size headphones are going to look pricey and worth stealing, so sorry, buddy, it's bad both ways. Honestly though, as long as demand is high, price will remain high. Look at iPods: Not saying they're a terrible product, but they sure aren't cheap despite dominating the market.

If there is something at 99 euros that can substitute studio headphones, I guessed everyone would have switched to it....

The DBI Pro-700 are more or less that... but you can get them for $40.

Yup, usually available on eBay,... http://cgi.ebay.com/DBI-Pro-700-Head...#ht_1216wt_905

That's a different seller than I'm used to, and a few $$$ more - decide if they're good for you. Me, I like them pretty much. Not perfect, but great for a beater set of cans!!!

PS: Ignore the condition of the ear pads - you'll get much better usage & comfort w/a set of Bayer Dynamic pads,...trust me on this one.

PPS: dbi is located in Canada, so I'm not too sure about the "German Headphones" thing, just that they sound pretty darn good.

Heh, kinda funny:

Those headphones sure look familiar, at least in the out of box picture. Maybe they had a change of heart when they finally put them in the box, not wanting to be sued by every single rap and pop artist that makes money off the same exact set of headphones.

Like the vocoder voice processing features (Auto-Tune) and the "inspired by" remark in the description :P

Love the "custom molded" part... I guess they read that on the UE/Westone/Earsonics website or something.

Yes, every single pair has been "custom molded" to Larry, the guy in cubicle B3 at the THQ headquarters. He's been in 14 helmet-less motorcycle accidents in his lifetime, and 9 concussions.. Let's all hope we have the same shape and size cranium as him.

EDIT: And yes, I like to disappear for over a year at a time and come back and post in some random thread and see who missed me. ;P

The Sleek and 50 Cent plan is terminated, however as it stated 50 is using a different company to start a line of audio equipment. I'm curious of what is planned still.

First, why is this thread not a sticky yet?
Quote:
RZA aka Bobby Digital aka Prince Dynamite aka Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah of the seminal Wu-Tang Clan is next in line for a headphone collaboration with WeSC (We are the Superlative Conspiracy), a clothing company that already has their own line of flashy headsets.

Continuing the legacy of hip hop headphone team-ups started by Monster's Beats by Dr. Dre and followed most recently by Ludacris's Soul series, the Brooklyn producer and emcee will launch his Chambers line on August 26th starting with two models: a mobile-friendly street design and a full-sized model for DJs and audio engineers.
Check out this interview with RZA where he talks about the genesis of the collaboration, the design principles and the rigorous testing process to get the sound right. If you're still not sold on the idea, RZA also reveals that both headphones will featured glowing LED lights that flash and pulsate to the beat of you music.

I ordered the AKG Q460, but the sale fell through - I guess I'll be passing on the current pricing.
