As far as I am concerned I had to replace my player. As I got the new one I realiced, that it hat power as it was delivered (I mean I took it out of the box and I could switch it on right away.)
The first player was "dead" when it came here and hat to be charged first. So I think it had a hardware problem.
Now everything is fine and I am a happy J3 juser.
Tought this might be of interest for someone.

Nope, afaik, Cowon will not perform an initial charge on the battery, at least mine was dead like a flat fish when it arrived.

I think you got a refurb, or maybe they checked yours and send it back once they were sure its not dfkt... uhm i mean kaput.

I totaly odered three J3: first the one with the problem I discirbed above. Than I did some more reading in the net and found (somewere don't know where) someone who said: how buitifull: the player came fully charged. That made me think. So I ordered two more players (I had tham all three here at the same time). The two new BOTH had batteryjuce as they where delivered. And both do work fine. I don't say that thouse wich arraive dead have to be dfkt but that they never have initial charge can't be true eighter.

(Realy sorry about my bad typing. Not even realy better in my native language.)

huh, that's odd.

either you got two refurbs or what you say is true and they either come precharged (like Apple products, for example) or not. but that would be very, very inconsistent.

so until proven wrong, i'm gonna go with my theory.

my cowon came uncharged and there's nothing wrong with it.

I don't think anything should be wrong with your player but I don't think I got refurbs:
1. The fist player had the lowest serialnumber, the next two have sereialnumbers wich n, n+1 (if you get my drift).
2. When I first tried to order the cowon J3 it was not avalible in Germay. I had to wait for some time. Than cowon toled me, that they had shiped an order to mp3-player.de and three days later they had tham back in stock. So MAYBE they send tham a big stock of refurbs or (as cowon said) thay collectet the orders from Germany and as there where enaugh orders they shipt a new batch.

So I think they do precharges, but again: if yours works fine that is all that matters, isn't it?
