thanks. the final will have a few layers of HS. I am not thrilled with this one. looks fine with the barrel on, but under there is a mess.

Make sure you are using the right soldering iron tips (parts express has them cheap) and that you clean them well (non soapy brillo pads work fine for me). Practice tinning, joining and separating on some of the left over thin cables, you’ll get to the point you want. On another note, not sure if you use "helping hands," but they work great for me and they’re cheap.
