Is there any custom uci for the j3 that have the ability to search for music by typing letter through perhaps a keyboard?

you're in luck..Kizune is in developing a browser with that capability. it's in beta mode though....but you can still check it out. it's a sweet browser

As has already been suggested, the Leaf Browser by Kizune provides what you're probably looking for... in two flavors:

(1) first-letter search, that gets you to the first item in a list that starts with that letter. Touch the "ABC" button to produce a 7x4 matrix holding large highly visible white letters of the alphabet on a pure black background, covering the entire portrait-mode screen. Touch a letter and the matrix disappears instantly, and the list navigates to the first item whose first letter matches your request.

(2) full-search, which allows you to enter a search value on a QWERTY keyboard (small, but usable). Press-and-hold the "ABC" button to produce a small QWERTY keyboard. Type in your search value (any string, partial or complete), push the SEARCH button, and the search is completed. All items in the list which satisfy the search are shown.
