Atm i just have an hello world running and a non-optimized neogeo pocket emulator (yep, i rock hehe), things will get better as i reverse moar hardware

I'm not clear on what the source on github does. Is this a firmware replacement, or a project to package new apps into the existing firmware?

Just a way to execute custom code on the running linux kernel.
Its not that hard compiling that, you just need a linux box

I'm not sure you are aware most people do not understand anything of what is on your website lol

Thats what I thought. Is there any reason you couldn't use this to bootstrap some other kernel if someone wanted to port rockbox or android to the player?

Those are development tools mostly. Anyone who doesn't understand how to use them probably won't be doing much development

Forgive me if my 2 questions are stupid but:

1. Is it something that could help getting rockbox alike firmwares on this device?
2. Is it possible to perform this kind of hack on Sony devices that are also Linux based?

The main fact is that theres no documentation of hardware, all the hw is handled by linux kernel wich is a fuckin pain to reverse.

For anybody asking for a precompiled package i suggest to hold on a bit theres nothing ready and i have very few spare time to hack. Also dont think emulators will be usable there as all the keys are on a touchpad that obiviously has no multitouch feature and makes possible pressing just one button at time any suggestion to workaround the problem ?

Maybe I could help you to get documentation of hardware but I can't promise anything as it would not be something allowed by Samsung.

You work for Samsung ? :O
I dunno if the kernel should be released due to license as, for what i know, the drivers are implemented directly into that and not in loadable modules that might come under another license.

No, I don't work for Samsung (I'm still a student in business), but I work with them, I'm just like an Insider or a great interface between them and the custumers...call it like you want^^

I did not mean it's a licence issue but hardware documentation are internal documents so they are not supposed to be shared lol
But tell me what you want to know about the Q2 hardware and I'll see what I can do for you

The Linux kernel source code is available for the R0 and R1 ( http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=54481 ). But obviously not for the Q2
I don't think I'll be able to give you the kernel, I thought you just wanted informations about the internal components

Just to let you know I sent an email to TheLemonMan some days ago to ask him about his hacking projects after so many sleep months and as he was so happy someone got interested in his work, he started working on the Rockbox port and here is the progress after only a few days:

Whats working...

• Lcd
• i2c bus
• touchpad
• fm radio

(it's a SI4703 connected over i2c)

...and whats not

• usb
• adc
• nand
• audio

Of course, if you have some knowledges to help him, don't hesitate! That's always easier than working alone.
