Default blue LED blinking, black screen, no kind of reactions

Hi all,

I recently got the trouble which often aroused in comments to article about disassembling Vision M (but no suggestions on treating it were made). In short, the thing wouldn't start up, when I connect it to USB port of my mac the only thing that happens is the blue LED inside starts blinking once in 2 seconds. It was dying for quite a while, with many bugs, sudden playback and volume changes, switching to radio, making noise in headphones... Then once it hung up, LED lit blue, the battery died and that was it.
I found a broken contact inside. The player I guess was refurbished so I got a custom part in it - something that looks like thin insulated sheet of copper instead of foam between main board and hard drive. It was soldered in 2 places to the main board, one of those contacts was broken. I soldered it again, it didn't help.
So, I wonder what this blinking means and would appreciate any suggestions on how to bring my player back to life.

Sounds like you have a bad motherboard. The copperplate is not a indication of a refurbished player. Some of the players had the plate some did not. parts easily found on Ebay.

Thanks for reply!
Makes sense... Will try to replace it if I find one in Germany, here on Ebay you mostly get not working players with same motherboard trouble

You can get a working motherboard only from some sellers. I'll look to see if there are any & if they ship worldwide.(shipping may be high)

same problem.... I got mine to work its been down a couple of days unplug the adapter from the usb wire then plug the adapter in the zen player then plug the usb wire in the usb port turn on the zen player and hold it in the on position than plug the usb wire into the adapter while still holding the power button in the on position wait 8 seconds if it don't turn on try it again,it needs a power jolt or something to trigger it on,the reset button will only fix if the hard drive froze up...
this will definately fix ur prob!

My daughters 60gb Zen went this way with the flashing blue light and no response and not charging and I managed to fix it.It was so easy that I bought a broken one off Ebay with the same symptoms and fixed that as well. All I did was to remove the back of the zen and disconnect the battery then slide the power switch to the on position and hold it there while you reconnect the battery and just leave it on charge for a while. If you have tried other fixes that don't work then give this a go.

Glad it worked for you.Just think how many get sent to Creative for expensive repairs and I bet that this is all that they do.

Hello,
I too have the blinking light problem with my 30GB ZVM. Just wondering if you had the adaptor connected up to your computer before or after you reconnected the battery, as mine still blinks either way.

Any help most appreciated.

This thread has been dead for 2 years,... I'd suggest getting another player. Creative is dead.
