hmm looks like it could be interesting, but if you are looking for SQ, build yourself a Cmoy.

cheers

I'd go for the PA2V2... again.

Excellent sound (LM4881 OpAmp, 2200F Panasonic capacitors), excellent battery life (~130 hours with 2400mAh NiMH batteries), and charging circuit integrated. And a very good price, even with shipping from Canada.

Gary, the guy who builds them, is a very helpful and nice person. He answers any questions regarding his product exhaustively and immediately.

See my signature for details.

Yeah, the PA2V2 has a better output amp, better SNR ratio, better frequency response than the Boostaroo - and it looks a lot better/sturdier than a DIY CMOY in an Altoids box... And who needs 3 headphones-out on a pocket amp anyways?

Your Grados would benefit from a nice amp, I assume...

And Gary tricks the customs, too...

Here's today's dumb noobie question....

Does a headphone amp make

a) cheap headphones sound better
b) better quality headphones a necessity
c) neither
d) combination
e) something else

Thanks, Steve

a) No, you will only hear how bad cheap phones actually are. Only HQ phones benefit from an amp. You know, the old crap-in, crap-out saying...

b) It's a necessity for high-impedance headphones. Usually any headphone rated over ~100 Ohms. Generally bass response, sound resolution and soundstage get better with proper amps. But some low-impedance phones might benefit from an amp, too.

c) I want a baloney sammich.

ya, the PA2v2 amps are great, but they are a deal bit more expensive than the posted amp, or a home built Cmoy, but definetly go for a PA2v2 if you can.

cheers

Yes, OTOH a self-made CMOY would be a great project for people with the necessary soldering skills... I just assumed by JDGAFFLIN's post #3 in this thread that this is not up his alley.

I could do it..But with work, school, fiance, I just rarely have the time to do stuff like that. But with the schematic, I could do one. I think. Maybe.

Im just gonna get the PA2v2. Thanks fellas.
