+2 D-X69 - just buy a case to hold the earphones. It will be a better protection for your earphones + it should solve your tangling issue Only earphone which died when kept in a case was a crossroads mylar3 years ago, their "durability" is well-known though

Ok. Then the tangling wouldnt be an issue. Now let's get back to topic and help me decide an better alternative to my current Sony MDR-XB20EX. The bass of this pair is good. But I'm looking for better ones since Sony isn't among the top notch sounded iems. More of an all genre guy(all sorts of song especially hiphop) prefer bass, no sibilance, clarity the sound and vocals.

If you have trouble with tangle cords learn to roll your cables using the over-under method. Been used by roadies to roll audio cables for decades. Velcro straps are also a cheap solution to prevent tangles.

Have a look at this thread: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=15243
There are lots of options. As dfkt says, pretty much everything in the top half is good. |

I just received my vb like a week ago.. And I think it sound great, good bass, but seriously in compared to beats by dr.dre, it has no match with its bass and vocal clarity.. pretty disappointed.. :\

I sort of agree. The VB has brilliant bass, but the rest of the SQ + tonal quality sucks arse IMO.

Hmmm...complete opposite reaction of VBs vs Dres for me, right from beginning. Dr. Dre's were completely bass-centric, small soundstage and weak in mids with shrill highs...to ME.
Guys, what bass plates are you using on the VBs? The 2 dot bass plate is quite great to my ears across the board, while retaining more than chest thumping bass for me...

Was using them on the 2 dot plate. No dot plate had bloated bass, and three dot plate...yuck. I gave my VB's away to a close friend for so that he could use it over his Dr. Dre Tours because I disliked it.

Another point is they may need some hours on them to flex the driver membrane. About 25 to 30 hours with the typical music you listen to should be fine. If that doesn’t open them up a little, there’s always EQ to your taste.

I burnt them in for 100 hours, and had a multitude of EQ's set up for them. To no avail. =[

Yea, the Panas were cheap before because they were discontinuing them, and J&R had them on clearance. The flip side of that is that now, their really flippin' expensive. Good phones, definitely, but they're a bit more than pricey.
Just throwing it out there, how do you find the VBs disappointing in comparison to the Beats? I've heard my friend's beats, and they're muddy with hardly anything BUT bass. The VBs have to be a step up, and these are the first few negative reviews I've heard of them as far as I can remember... |
