Replacing Phiaton ms 400 and Monster turbines plugs

Hi all, im thinking of replacing the plugs on my phiaton ms 400 headphones and monster turbines IEM's (The phiaton plug is very flimsy and the turbines plug broke). I have read the sticky guide and find it helpful, but i dont know if these head/earphones have painted wires or not. I dont want to snap the wire only to find out that the wires are painted, i cant replace the plugs and screwed up my 'phones. How do i find out if the 'phones got painted wires or not?
