When I plug the S9 in a USB port (with either MSC or MTP), windows (XP x32 and 7 x64) does not recognize it as Removable Device, can't access the internal flash memory of S9. While plugged the S9 just shows an animated big orange battery which says "Battery Charging" and maybe it's charging.
It does not show the "USB connected screen anymore". When not plugged in USB, it works normally, plays music. The only thing is that I cannot access internal memory any more, cannot copy music onto it. I think one of my USB ports might be defective, and somehow the USB controller on the S9 was burnt. Did anyone experience this? Any fixes possible? other than sending it to warranty Thank you. |

I had this for a while when I first had my S9, the problem seemed to fix its self after a while and I haven't experienced it for a year +. Strange...

Have you tried using a different USB cable? Possibly the data part of your cable has been damaged.

Mine just started doing this. *sigh* Guess I'll have to deal with these crappy Stargate episodes until it magically repairs itself.

I'm not sure if it' the same, but my device locks up when I access the filesystem.
So the device appears as a drive, but when I access it, it stops responding for a few minutes. Then the folder I attempted open will display. If I attempt to access the next folder, the device locks up for a few minutes again. This only happens on my home PC. It works fine on my work PC. I suspect it's some software on my PC interfering with it, but I haven't been able to identify which it is. Other USB storage works fine. If anyone has some suggestions to troubleshoot this, please let me know. It's extremely frustrating to have to take files from home to work, then work to my S9. |

Darnit I wish I could remember how to fix this. Basically your device has turned itself into....blank. Hopefully Dfkt or somebody can come along to help not much use if your shit wont work.

Note, though, that it does work. It just takes a very long time to work. But I'll be interested in any suggestions.

It turns out that it was indeed a conflicting application causing my issue. I had tried closing the application and killing any related processes which didn't always make a difference, but after uninstalling it the S9 works perfectly. The software was "ROUTE 66 Sync" for updating your ROUTE 66 GPS devices.
