I have the same 'problem' with three Zunes (I lost one and one died). I thought it was a problem at first, but I just figure it's something with the OLED. Don't sweat it.

Plus, when are you ever going to be staring at a black picture in the middle of a pitch-black room?

I asked this problem a while ago (link), and someone replied saying that it's the screen scanning for pixels to turn on or something. It's normal. But still, you can't find a screen with such contrast as what an OLED provides.
