I feel like a moron, but my earbuds went through the washer and partly through the dryer.
The bass is virtually gone and they sound rather tinny. So my question is, is there anything I can do about it, or will I have to buy more?

Maybe try the ziploc bag of rice trick?

As Marvin said and if other electronics get wet don't use them until after the rice trick or their completely dry. BTW what earbuds did you wash?

I've ran a few sets of Sennheiser CX300's through the washer and they worked the same after they were all dried out. But knowing the make and model of your headphones would make it so we could make a better guess.

Syndrome that's cause those little tanks (cx300s) can take a beating and come back ticking
![]() I asked also cause if they are working and if they're iem's it's possible that the tips got soap in them. Which means they need to be cleaned off to get a better seal. Remember no seal = little to no bass.

Actually, they came out very clean.
They are JBuds J2s (from Amazon). So they had several hours to dry and now the right side is significantly louder than the other. Also, the not-tinny sound has not completely left.

For $15.00 get a new pair if you liked them, if not it gives you the perfect excuse to upgrade.

I'm thinking about getting the JBuds J4s. They look good, but they're almost 40 dollars.
Just so anyone knows, this all was a freak accident. This has never happened before.

Wonderful news! They work as if they never went through the washer and partly the dryer!
Here's what I did: I left them alone all day, tried them, and it still sounded weird. So, I made a slightly logical thought (which could be utter bullcrap, no pun intended) and thought that maybe there was dried soap or something keeping it from working, so I put a drop or two of water in each earbud, tried to "sling" the water out, and left them alone for two days. I tried them about two minutes ago, and they work perfectly now. Is there a method to my madness, does this normally happen, or am I just lucky?

Congrats but I'd say if they went through a full wash cycle they shouldn’t have retained any soap, I’d say they finally dried out completely or caulk it up to luck.
